SHIKARI - The Epic New Literary Fantasy from the author of The Storm
Close Your Eyes With Holy Dread
Long ago, the Nine Unknown slew a god.
The colossal skeletal remains of the Demiurge now orbit the world, seated on a golden throne, cutting through space in silence. And the millennia-old cabal formed to resist divine tyranny has returned to the shadows, harnessing their enemy’s remains as an immense occult battery to consolidate their own power over the world.
But in 1922, new embers burn in the ashes of empire:
In County Meath, Ireland, blood-red grass erupts inside fairy circles.
In Cambridge, England, two women, both with golden eyes, search for the same man.
In Tanganyika, an occultist and a world-weary poacher descend into a volcanic crater that hides a secret in its heart.
And it all begins in India, where, as a man-eating tigress like no other spreads terror through the villages, the only man who can slay it, the Irish-Indian Shikari (hunter) William Mohan, is instead summoned by W.B. Yeats to Castle Dunsany on an urgent mission.
As these threads pull tight, what will become clear is that for the world to survive, a new god must be slain.
SHIKARI is a work of literary fantasy that blends supernatural horror, metaphysical conspiracy, and historical fiction. Structured around Yeats’s The Second Coming, it combines the elegant, literary fantasy of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell and Piranesi with the pulp action of Hellboy and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Members of the Bloomsbury group and affiliated historical figures—Yeats, Russell, Woolf, Hemingway—appear not as cameos but actors with full agency who prove integral to the plot.
